Magnum Showcase: Personal Stories

This project depicts two years of my life spent inside supported housing called 'The Foyer'. The building contained around twenty other residents of ages between 16 and 22 who each held their own story of how they came to live there. The Foyer was built for younger people that had been kicked or moved out of their family homes. Every residents character was completely different and reflected their personal story. Two photographers that I took great influence from during this project were Richard Billingham and Gavin Watson. The length of the project allowed the residents to become comfortable with the camera. After the first couple of months the shots slowly became more and more natural.
